I happened upon these shoes today as the price was totally in my budget (not that I had a budget for these shoes - they are $37) I was thinking about getting them, but wanted some opinions.  Do they look ok?

I've been so quite around here lately.  I have been super busy, so that's my excuse.  With sewing!  And other stuff of course.

I finished my Kirtle and jacket and partlet all in time for the ren faire, so that was good!  I had a blast with jennil and sallysews even though it was really cold.  Will post pictures from that soon.  Oh man, there will be a giant ( Read more... )

I was debating for quite a while whether to hand sew any of the petticoats I am making for my 18th century stuff, but decided last night that I'd at least do the outtermost layer. :)  Then see what I have time for later.  Plus it would be good practice since I'm not sure how nice and even my hand stitching is ( Read more... )

And I tried it on.  And it's good, except for a few little problems, which I hope are either inconsequential or fixable.   The eyelets weren't that bad because I only whipstitched them.  They are not perfect by any means, but I feel good for doing them by hand!  Oh and I used silk thread for the first time, and I love it.  Thread was 50% off at ( Read more... )

I was hoping to get a lot done this weekend, and I have, but I'm still very much behind!  The reason?  I tried on my stays that I made last October (which were already a poor fit in some spots) and found that they didn't fit at all!  I lost some weight in Dec/Jan (unfortunately not on purpose) and now the back, which didn't have a lot of space ( Read more... )
